Now that my kitchen has had a bit of an upgrade. I have a very long wall that needs a little something to jazz it up. I have been on the search for ideas that won’t break the bank. I want it to be fun and whimsical with a nod to the 1950’s and 60’s, since the house was build in 1958.
Below is a wall display from https://houseandhome.com/ that caught my eye. I love the organic arrangement that meanders across the wall. The colors and patterns draw you in and keeps it interesting, and the plain white plates gives the display texture and tranquility that is very pleasing to the eye.
I really like the idea of using plates for decor and not just for eating in the kitchen. The ones pictured below, I found at Amazon and Etsy. I love the fun prints, vintage fruit, and witty sayings. The blue and white canvas print of the fork and spoon (from https://www.canvasfreaks.com/ ) is a fun twist on the iconic oversized wooden fork and spoon that started showing up on kitchen and dining room walls in the 1960’s and 1970’s.
Adding a narrow buffet or side table would work perfectly under the wall art or collection of plates to use as a serving table or just a place to put my keys. These are no more than 12-15 inches in width. The space is more of a walk way or pass through between rooms, so I don’t want a large bulky piece. The ones pictured above I found at Amazon.
Now that I have gathered together the ideas for this project, I just need to start putting a plan together. Sometimes, I even do a little sketch on a piece of paper to give myself a visual of what I am trying to achieve.
